In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Stefansson Arctic Institute, we have joined hands with the Institute of Arctic Studies at the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth College in the US and the University of Akureyri in organizing and hosting the Arctic Days in Akureyri on November 15-17.
The event will comprise of various seminars, meetings and classroom discussions for specially invited participants, but the high point will be the 21st annual Stefansson Memorial Lecture, Keeping the Flame of Arctic Cooperation Alive in Difficult Times, delivered by Dr. Oran R. Young, professor emeritus at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at the University of California Santa Barbara. Professor Young also delivered the first Memorial lecture in Akureyri in 1998. Find out more about his work here.
The Stefansson Memorial Lecture will take place on Thursday, November 16 at 16:15 in room M102 at the University of Akureyri, preceded by coffee and refreshments from 15:45 and followed by a reception.
The lecture will be open to all, but in-person attendees are kindly asked to register here for catering purposes and to minimize food waste.
