Have you recently completed your PhD? Are you interested in researching human-environment relations in the Arctic? Are you working on economic systems and human development, marine-resource governance, political ecology of agricultural systems, or the impacts of and adaptation to past and present climate change?
The Stefansson Arctic Institute and the University of Akureyri in Iceland are looking to support candidates to apply for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships in the following areas:
- Climate change impacts and adaptation
- Arctic human well-being and living conditions
- Arctic economies and community development and resilience
- Human development in the Arctic
- Human–environment relations
- Indigenous peoples, societies, and cultures
The Stefansson Arctic Institute is a well-known research institute dedicated to Arctic research, based at the University of Akureyri in Northeast Iceland. Researchers based at the Institute have an extensive track record of involvement in international research projects, including Horizon Europe-funded research, and play a lead role in numerous Arctic research networks and in managing key circumpolar assessments and reports, including the Arctic Human Development Report. The Institute is based at the University of Akureyri which also hosts a range of key Arctic organisation including two Arctic Council Working Groups (CAFF and PAME) and IASC, meaning successful candidates would benefit from a wider international research environment on inequalities, gender, migration, tourism, climate change, biodiversity and other areas of Arctic research.
Interested candidates are asked to submit a short (2-page) summary of their proposed research topic which should also explain how it aligns with existing research and the themes identified above. Candidates should also submit a short CV (5-page max.) CVs should highlight their academic track record to date and eligibility according to MSCA criteria.
